VERY IMPORTANT TO ALL PUNA RESIDENTS~~ Representative Joy SanBuenaventura is advancing Bills in the House regarding Insurance for Lava related events. Please prepare your testimony for HB737 which is the first of at least 3 insurance renewal bills. HB737 increases the coverage of the hurricane fund to cover lava flows. The hurricane fund is reinsurance which was created after Iniki to reassure insurance companies that their losses can be limited and they do not need to leave the Hawaii market. Subsequent insurance bills require renewals and requiring the HIPA moratorium to end for previously insured homes.
